As believers, we have been given the priceless gift of the presence of God. As a result of our salvation, we can come into the presence of God and have fellowship with Him. In a general sense, anyone who places faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins and trusts Him to be their Savior has God with them. However, this initial act of faith does not guarantee a strong awareness of His presence, because it doesn’t come automatically. An awareness of the presence of God must be cultivated.
Living constantly in God’s presence, is living in joy peace and favour. Fellowship with God is a beautiful thing and those who are led by God have no reason for worry or fear. Psalm 16:11 says: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” God’s presence is the best place to be and as believers we are to strive to maintain this presence . We carry the Holy Spirit in us, but our hearts have to be further conditioned to become aware of His presence.
Cultivating God’s presence involves creating space for Him. We most times get so encumbered in our daily activities that we are too busy and loud to hear God. In the scriptures, when Jesus wanted to fellowship with God, he always went to a quiet place. We must have solitary periods where we can fellowship with God and study His Word to feel His presence and hear from Him better. Our worship is another important device in bringing the presence of God down. God inhabits the praises of His people. Also becoming more sensitive and obedient to the Holy Spirit helps in dwelling in His presence daily as God desires. Most importantly, having a heart after God and living a life that honours God, is the ultimate attraction to the presence of God. David is a prime example. As we dwell in the presence of God, we enjoy peace joy and pleasures forevermore. SHALOM!
CONFESSION.
Thank You Father for Your presence that lives in me and for the gift of the Holy Spirit. As I take care to create space for You and cultivate Your presence in my life, come and fellowship with me, that I may truly experience the beauty of walking with You. In Jesus Name. Amen.
