As Believers, studying the Word of God daily is paramount for our spiritual growth. The Bible says that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. 1Peter 2:2 says: “As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”. Feeding on the Word of God involves studying it, meditating on it, and internalizing it to our personal lives.
Just as we must eat daily to maintain a healthy physical life, so also must we study the Word daily to maintain a healthy spiritual life. Our Christian life is built on the Word of God, and a Christian who doesn’t have the Word of God stored in His heart is like a weaponless soldier. The Word of God reveals to us our inheritance in Christ. It also builds up our faith (Romans 10:27), keeps us from sin (Psalm 119:11), and even renews our mind (Romans 12:2). To live a proper Christian life and enjoy all the benefits that are inherent in it, we must continually feed on the Word of God, as it is the means by which we grow into spiritual maturity (1Peter 2:2).
In Deuteronomy 11:18-20, we are instructed to always keep the Word of God close. This is even made easier with the evolution of modern devices, recorded messages, audio and digital Bibles. We should always surround ourself with the Word. The Bible is full of God’s good promises for us as Believers, but we will be ignorant of them if we fail to study it and apply the principles in it. As we desire the earnest milk of the Word and study it daily, we experience all round growth in Jesus Name. SHALOM!
CONFESSION
Thank you Lord for the gift of your Word. As I take heed to feeding myself on it daily, I experience panoptic and all-encompassing growth in Jesus Name. Amen.
