KINGDOM PRINCIPLE: DISCIPLINE

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live selfcontrolled, upright and godly lives in this present age” (Titus 2:11–12).

One of God’s principles for advancement is discipline. God is a God of principle, and He requires that we walk in them also. He is disciplined and also disciplines His own. When you read through the Bible, you see how God upholds His principles through discipline. Without discipline, you cannot be of much use to God, man or your environment.

To get the best of God in life, one must be disciplined in following the principles in His Word, because discipline births effectiveness. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 9:25: “every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things”… The word “temperate” means discipline, to have self-control.

It rightly said, that the secret to a man’s future lies hidden in his daily routine; meaning, what you do today, greatly determines the success of your tomorrow. If you don’t instill discipline in your today, you will reap disorder in your tomorrow. The exercise of discipline in our lives create an environment for God to work effectively.

Make up your mind to be disciplined in all that you do; in worship, Bible study, prayer, fasting, meditation and in your service to God and humanity. Remember, discipline is not drudgery, rather, it is the passage to your divine purpose and your doorway to your inner joy and peace. The reward for discipline is much better than the miracle expectations that come from indiscipline. SHALOM.
