OBEDIENCE AND THE PROMISE

OBEDIENCE AND THE PROMISE

The promises of God towards His people are numerous. These promises of blessings are unmerited and simply received by grace. However, the only prerequisite God demands of us is obedience, because the love language of God is obedience. He says in his word, that if we love Him we should keep His commandments (John 14:15).

Obedience is the premise behind all of God’s promises. Deuteronomy 5:33 (GW) says: “Follow all the directions the Lord your God has given you. Life will go well for you”. The promises of God are conditioned on us following the directions that He gives to us. God gives us His promises by grace, but we get to enjoy His promises when we follow His instructions.
Most times, we may understand God’s instructions and sometimes we may not. Nevertheless, we need to obey whether or not we understand or agree with the instruction.

We must understand that God’s ways are higher and His thoughts are bigger than ours. We are required to obey whether we understand them or not, for in obedience, lies the true test of our faith and trust in God’s Word. Some of God’s commands might sound confusing, some may even seem unfair, nevertheless, we are to obey without hesitation. As we obey God’s instructions in the Word and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, God will bless us and takes us to our promised land. SHALOM!

CONFESSION

I receive the grace to be obedient to the Word of God and to the instructions of the Holy Spirit. From today, I learn to obey first, and do all that is written in the God’s Word. For as I obey God, I enter into my promised land, in Jesus Name. Amen.
