“Honour all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” [1 Peter 2:17].
God has given us certain principles in His Word, which serves as a determinant for our progress and advancement in life. One of such principle is “Honour”. Honour means to show respect to or towards another, to give recognition to, or esteem another. Our opening scripture gives us God’s clear direction on who we should honour.
As a Child of God, you are a man or woman of honour, you were created for glory and honour (1 Peter 2:9). However, you cannot receive honour until you give it. Honour is rooted in believing God’s Word. God requires that we walk in honour towards all men, towards the brotherhood in Christ, towards God Himself and towards our leaders. When you walk in honour, you automatically walk in God’s blessings, because honour commands God’s blessings.
Honour is the seed of lasting greatness. Honour activates the commanded blessing. When you give honour, it gets God’s attention. The honour you pour on others is the blessing that comes back to you. Romans 12:10 says, “Take delight in honouring each other”.
Remember, honour is not just something you say, or an expression of respect, it starts from your heart but finds expression through the degree of regard and worth you place on the others. Set out today to follow this principle, because it is what God has commanded you to do, and it is also the first commandment with promise (Ephesians 3:16). SHALOM.
CONFESSION
I declare that the life of Christ is manifested in me. I refuse to give expression to any character that is not of God. I am a king-priest unto God, therefore I exude His excellency through honour, today and always. I give honour to God, and to those around me always. I receive and walk in God’s blessings everyday of my life, in Jesus Name, Amen.
