STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED

To study means making mental effort to acquire knowledge on a particular subject for effective practical application.

It is required of every believer to study and apply the Word of God at all times in their lives. The book of 2 Timothy 2:15(KJV) says: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”.

As believers, learning is an unending process of submitting to the wisdom and instructions of God’s Word. The Word of God equips us to carry out His mandate on earth—the salvation of our souls and the souls of others.

1 Peter 1:5&10 says: “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, [10]Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble”.

This scripture is proof that though we have the salvation of God through grace, we must also work towards being worthy vessels. This only happens through submission to the Words and wisdom of God.

Believers have been instructed to continuously meditate on the Word of God (and do what it instructs), because that is the only sure path to finding our divine purpose and fulfilling it according to the will of God. Joshua 1:8 implores us not to let the scriptures depart from our mouth, but commit to studying and meditating on it daily, if we are truly to make our ways prosperous and have good success. SHALOM!
