PRAY FOR UNDERSTANDING
Understanding refers to having the quality of insight, comprehension and good judgement. It is acclimatized knowledge or the opinion we draw from knowledge. Suffice to say that, understanding is the knowledge that determines what is truth to a person, and determines the trajectory of one’s life. Proverbs 4:7 says: "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”. This implies that any knowledge that is not followed up with understanding is wasted knowledge.
The importance of understanding cannot be overestimated; this is why every believer must pray for understanding always. James 1:5 instructs us: “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Since we know that God
is the custodian of all wisdom and understanding, the wise thing to do as believers, when in need of it, is to ask Him in prayers.
Understanding for a believer manifests in fulfillment of purpose—to dispense with diligence the Kingdom and temporal business God has entrusted into our hands. This can only be attained through the practical application of the knowledge of His will. It is therefore important to seek the wisdom of God at every point in our walk of faith (Proverbs 3:5). CONFESSION
Dear Father, thank You for giving me the spirit of wisdom. Lord, when I do not know what to do, help me to seek Your spirit. I declare that the wisdom of God is at work in me, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
