PRAYING BY THE SPIRIT
The prayer life of a believer cannot be overemphasized. From times past, great men and women of faith have prayed through the difficult situations and trials they have encountered as children of God. Many believers also fellowship with God through prayer. However, every believer needs the guidance of the Holy Spirit in order to pray effectively; a believer who prays effectively must pray by the spirit of God. The book of Romans 8:26 says: "In the same way, the spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
In praying by the spirit, we pray by the help of the Holy Spirit in order to edify ourselves and fill the atmosphere with the presence of God. Praying by the Spirit is vital for a believer: it helps a believer grow in fellowship with God. One of the ways that a believer can pray by the spirit is by praying in tongues. 1 Corinthians 14:2 says: “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.”
By praying in the spirit, believers can be quickened and edified. A believer, who has the Spirit of God will naturally pray by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Jude 1:20 says: "But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit”. The prayer life of a believer lays the foundation for their faith, and their life in general. The Holy Spirit is our intercessor, invite Him to intercede on your behalf today. SHALOM!
