CALLED OUT OF DARKNESS

As followers of Christ, we are a chosen people. We have been redeemed from the power of darkness by the blood of Christ and brought into God's marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9 says: "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light."
Darkness here means death and separation from God, because God is the Father of light in whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning (James 1:7).

When Adam fell, he fell into darkness, and with him the whole of mankind fell. From that moment, God's salvation plan was put into motion; the culmination of Christ's purpose on earth was to rescue man from darkness and restore us into fellowship with God. When we receive Christ, we  become a new breed, distinct and different from the rest of mankind. We have been given a place of authority together with Christ to rule as kings and priests over the earth, and the way we reign is to let our light shine to the world.

We have not received the light of God to stay hidden or alienated from the world. It is our duty to shine forth the glory of the life we have received, so that all will see and give glory to God (Matthew 5:16). As light cannot be hidden by darkness, so also Christians should not be quiet with their faith. Therefore, we must go about our daily activities, as children of light, dominating the world and attracting people to Christ; that the light of the Father may be seen all through creation. SHALOM!

CONFESSION

Thank You Father for the redemptive power of salvation, which rescued me from the power of darkness and gave me an inheritance in Your kingdom. Help me to shine as a light and spread this gospel to everyone around me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
