THE WONDERS OF PRAYER AND FASTING
Most times, people pray without an understanding of the importance of prayer. This could be because they are instructed to pray by a spiritual head, or they see others pray and attempt to imitate them. This should not be so for the believer. Prayer and fasting should be a means to seek the face of God, especially when we are unsure. Ezra 8:21 says: “Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.”
Prayer and fasting works wonders. There are things that happen only as a result of prayer and fasting. Mathew 17:19&21 illustrates this truth: “Then the disciles came to Jesus privately and said: “Why could we not cast it out? …so Jesus said to them…this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Commitment to fasting and praying is very vital for the manifestation of signs and wonders.
Fasting is not only a means of consecration: it brings answers and results from God. Look at the experience of Daniel in the book of Daniel 10:12: “Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words”. Finally, we must never forget that persistence is required in the process of praying and fasting for effective change. SHALOM!
CONFESSION
Dear Father, I believe in the power of prayer. Therefore, I consecrate myself to You in fasting and prayer. I remain consistent in the place of prayer as I overcome every obstacle in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
